Every digital signature carries an identity claim: it connects a document to the person or organization that signed it. But legal contracts, financial records or confidential business files should not have to be uploaded to an external platform just to validate a signature.

With Swisscom Document Validator, the document hash is calculated in the client environment. Only the hash and signature metadata are sent to Swisscom for validation. The PDF itself never leaves your environment.

document workflows

Confidential documents need trust, not exposure

Organizations need to know whether a signed document is authentic, intact and linked to the right signer. But many signature-checking processes still create a difficult choice: upload the full document to a third-party service, or keep checks manual and fragmented.

For legal, financial, insurance or enterprise documents, that is often not acceptable. Sensitive files may contain personal data, commercial terms, internal decisions or regulated information. Moving those documents outside the organization can create unnecessary risk, delay and governance questions.

Swisscom Document Validator is designed for processes where signature validation is required, but document confidentiality remains essential.

Three steps to privacy-conscious signature checks

Level1_BOLD
Calculate the document
hash locally

The PDF never leaves your infrastructure. A hash is generated locally from the document content.

Level2_BOLD
Send only proof data

Just the hash and relevant signature metadata are sent to Swisscom Document Validator, nothing more.

Level3_BOLD
Receive a clear result

Swisscom returns the result so the organization can continue the process with more confidence and less manual effort.

A protected workflow for signed documents

Digital Timestamp Verification Example-3

Swisscom Document Validator is designed for integration into existing digital document processes. Instead of transferring the full PDF, the client-side component calculates the document hash and extracts the signature metadata required for validation.

Swisscom receives only the validation-relevant data, checks the signature information and returns a validation result to the organization’s workflow.

The service is intended for API-based and workflow-based integration. Technical documentation, supported environments and implementation details should be linked from this section once available.

In the standard package, the service supports PDFs with electronic signatures under ZertES and eIDAS. Other formats can be assessed depending on the use case.

Built for sensitive document workflows

From manual checks to integrated signature assurance

Swisscom Document Validator can support processes where signed documents need to be validated as part of a larger business journey. Examples include framework agreement signing, seal onboarding and internal approval workflows.

Instead of treating signature validation as a separate manual step, organizations can integrate validation into the process flow. The result is a smoother journey for teams, customers and partners, while sensitive documents remain under the organization’s control.

Here is an example:

  1. A business customer submits a signed agreement.

  2. The organization validates the signature as part of the onboarding workflow without uploading the full document to an external validation platform.

  3. The validation result is returned to the process, helping the team decide the next step.

Swisscom trust for sensitive document workflows

Document checks are part of a broader identity and trust chain. Organizations need to know that the signed document is authentic, that the signer can be trusted in the given context, and that sensitive information is handled with care.

Swisscom brings experience in digital trust services, identity, signatures and regulated business processes. Document Validator extends this trust layer into workflows where signed PDFs need to be checked without unnecessary document exposure.
