How to change your mobile device without loosing your electronic signing capabilties or RA agent rights
This guide is intended to provide a step-by-step procedure to change a mobile device without loosing your current signing capabilities or access rights for Master RA agents or Standard RA agents.
1. Prerequisites
- You are currently using Mobile ID app or Mobile ID SIM as signature approval method
- You have chosen Mobile ID app or Mobile ID SIM and uses only one of these signature approval methods
- You keep the same mobile number
- If you use the password and SMS code method (PWD/OTP), you need to take no action with a new device (out of scope in this guide)
Mandatory before you start
- Please check your current signing status on our Check signatur website. Your result must be successful.
- Check your RA agent role
- As Standard RA agent, you can successfully log in the RA app with your current Mobile ID (App or SIM)
- As Master RA agent, you can successfully log in the RA admin portal with your current Mobile ID.
- Mandatory: Create a Mobile ID recovery code via your Mobile ID Dashboard. The recovery code is needed to switch successfully your mobile device to another.
Case 1: You use Mobile ID SIM. You have an existing SIM in your old mobile device and to place your SIM in your new mobile device
- Take your SIM out of the old mobile phone and insert it in the new mobile phone
- Start the new phone: Your Mobile ID SIM is already activated on your new device
- You can check your configurations in the SIM toolkit of your phone

Case 2: You use Mobile ID app on your old device and want to use it for signatur approval on your new device
Please follow these steps to not loose your signing capabilities:
- Generate your Mobile ID recovery code on your Mobile ID Dashboard by using your old device. Please write it down because you will need it in the next steps.
- In your web browser on your website, please go to your Mobile ID Dashboard and choose "Active Mobile ID with the App"
- Accept terms of use, select option "I know my Mobile ID reocovery code" and enter your latest generated recovery code until a QR code is shown
- Now, switch to your new mobile phone:
- Install the Mobile ID app (avalable for Andriod and iOS) and add your account until the step of scanning the QR code.

- Scan with your mobile phone the QR code, shown on your desktop screen. Then the Mobile ID app account will be added autmatically

- On your desktop, a new recovery code has been generated that you must write down and store safely
Now, you should be still able to approve your electronic signature with the new mobile device
Case 3: You use Mobile ID SIM on an old device with an old SIM card. Now, you have a new device and a new SIM card but your mobile phone number has not changed
Attention: This case applies only to people owning a Swiss SIM card
Start with your old device:
- Generate your Mobile ID recovery code on your Mobile ID Dashboard by using your old device. Please write it down because you will need it in the next steps.
Now, switch to your new mobile phone and please follow the next steps for not loosing your signing capabilities:
- Put the new SIM in your new mobile phone and start your new mobile phone
- In the Dashboard, click on "Activate Mobile ID" and choose SIM
- Accept terms of use, select the option "I know my Mobile ID recovery code" and enter your latest generated recovery code
- Now switch to your new phone, set your new Mobile ID Pin code and confirm it
- On your desktop, your Dashboard will generate a new Mobile ID recovery code. Please write it down and store it safely
Now, you can also check your SIM Toolkit settings.
