Authentication Methods

To give a declaration of intent for electronic signature

In addition to unique identification, a secure authentication method for electronic remote signatures is also necessary for the electronic signature. Together, this ensures that only the holder can sign with his or her electronic signature.  In combination with the Signing Service, no other tools are needed, only your mobile phone.

Supported authentication methods

With the Signing Service, we offer you standard authentication methods approved and certified for the EU (in accordance with the eIDAS Regulation) and Switzerland (in accordance with the federal law ZertES) for the declaration of intent for the electronic signature.

It is also possible to use other authentication methods for the electronic signature and expression of will. However, this requires approval for ZertES or eIDAS from our responsible approval authorities. If this is an option for you, we will be happy to support you in this process.

Your advantages

Selection of authentication methods

For the declaration of intent for the signature, you select the appropriate authentication method for your process or make your own authentication available. In the second case, we support you in approving your authentication method at responsible authorities.

Future-proof with innovative partners

We work with partners who provide the most secure and innovative two-factor authentication on the market.

Legally compliant and certified

Certified auditors continuously check our processes and systems of our accredited certification body in Switzerland (according to federal law ZertES) and our trust service in the EU (according to eIDAS regulation). All authentication methods offered are approved according to the signature quality (qualified or advanced) in these jurisdictions.

Usability and flexibility

You use your existing authentication method for the electronic signature and expression of will, which works on all mobile phones and can also be used for other business activities.

How does the declaration of intent work?

1. Sign electronically a contract

In a signing application, the contract is displayed to the signatory and he is asked to sign it electronically.

2. Making the declaration of intent

Now, the signatory receives a request via the Signing Service on his mobile phone to authorise the signature with Mobile ID.

3. Enter Mobile ID PIN or Confirmation with Mobile ID App

Switzerland
The signatory confirms the electronic declaration of intent for the contract with Mobile ID and enters his 6-digit Mobile ID PIN on his mobile phone. Authentication with Mobile ID PIN is only possible with a Swiss SIM card and mobile number.

EU/EEA
The signatory confirms the electronic declaration of intent for the contract with Mobile ID and gives his consent via the Mobile ID App using a biometric procedure (e.g. fingerprint, facial recognition) or device PIN.

4. Creation of the signature

By authenticating with Mobile ID, the contract is electronically signed in the signing application and can subsequently be downloaded, further processed or archived.

1. Electronically sign contract

In a signing application, the contract is displayed to the signatory and he is asked to sign it electronically.

2. Making the declaration of intent

Now, the signatory receives a request via the Signing Service to enter his password, which he has set himself during registration.

3. Entering password and SMS code

In a second step, the signatory confirms the electronic declaration of intent for the contract with the code received via SMS.

4. Creation of the signature

Through authentication with password and SMS code, the contract is electronically signed in the signing application and can then subsequently be downloaded, further processed or archived.
